red, white and blue sangria

happy friday & july 4th weekend everyone! how could i resist posting a 4th of july cocktail.  matt and i are headed to the lake this afternoon for the weekend with friends.  hope everyone has a fabulous holiday weekend! stay cool with this chic drink!
Ingredients
2 bottles dry white wine (Sauvignon Blanc)
1 cup triple sec

1/2 cup berry flavored vodka
1/2 freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 cup simple syrup (see directions below)
1 cup blueberries
1 1/2 cups hulled and sliced strawberries
1 cup raspberries
1 1/2 cups apple chunks (cut into stars if courageous)
Preparation
1. To make simple syrup, boil 1/2 cup water and add 1/2 cup granulated white sugar.  Turn heat to summer and stir until dissolved. Turn off heat and let cool.

2. combine all ingredients in a large punch bowl or pitcher and stir well.  Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours.  Serve well chilled with a good scoop of fruit floating in each drink, or can be served over ice.

Tip: Use fresh fruit, frozen just doesn't do the recipe justice.

Serves: 8-10 depending on drink size
